Our Officers
Don Perl

Don Perl is President of the Coalition for Better Education. He has been a teacher in a variety of settings for over 30 years. He taught Spanish and Language Arts to Junior Hight School students in Greeley, Colorado for 19 years. He resisted CSAP testing in that setting. Don currently teaches Spanish in the Hispanic studies department at the University of Northern Colorado.
Don holds a M.A. in Teaching Spanish from UNC and a law degree from Syracuse University.
Laura Manuel

Laura Manuel is the Vice-President of the Coalition for Better Education. She was a police officer for 21 years before becoming a college professor. She has taught college for over 10 years. It was while teaching preservice teachers at Metropolitan State College of Denver that she became aware of the harm done to education in this country by programs such as NCLB. She currently teaches Psychology and Criminal Justice at Front Range Community College.
Laura has a M.A. degree in Psychology from the University of Northern Colorado. She has a Ph.D. in Educational Psychology from UNC.
